"Of Bore wells and our Children"

She would've been someone living in a tiny hamlet of Karur and we wouldn't have known her if not for this unfortunate incident. Muthulakshmi who happily accompanied her father and sister for a morning stroll.
One thing that surprised me all day was the active district administration which coordinated all efforts and did whatever it can under the circumstances. No option was spared, There was no dearth of Equipment, Man power, anything you ask fro was provided. Congratulations Team...
Mention must be made of the Fire and Rescue Team who toiled hard all day right from almost 8 AM in the morning, also the staff of EMRI who was stationed there with Oxygen Cylinders. Not to forget the workers who operated the JCBs, the People who operated the drilling machines to cut though rock...
Its past midnight now. When we all thought that the girl has been rescued and is safe, a news scroll hit me like a bullet train - The Girl is no more. Just a couple of hours before i was thanking God profusely and now i despise God. For all the Prayers that went up to heaven, the girl must've been saved. Prayers not only from me but from all kinds of People, People of Various beliefs, Sects prayed for the Child whose face we had never seen till now. I Saw Amen and Masha Allah in the Scrolls that were wishes of viewers of the Channel which focused this incident. God why are you so iron hearted. It was not my individual prayer. It was a million Hearts' Prayer yet you let us down...
What went wrong:
Although i'm not a Emergency Specialist nor a Medical Professional, i think pulling out the Oxygen supply for trying to rescue the child with an untested piece of machinery and the time that took till it was understood that the machine won't help had cost the life of the Child. How we wanted the child to be up and running today. We thought we would see the smiling faces of the Parents with Muthulakshmi shyly looking into the cameras, but alas, She is no more. My heart feels heavy. As if I've lost someone from my family.
Also, didn't we find a better piece of Camera to check the Girl inside the bore well. Are we so much Technologically lacking. A Camera in the Bore well would have told us the exact position of the child. It would've assisted in drilling nearby also. I was skeptical when i saw the piece of Machinery that was supposed to pull out the child. But my good senses wanted me to think positively and that the child would be pulled out soon. In these kind of situations decision making can be hard. But the drilling work nearby shouldn't have been stopped. Moreover i suspect the activity near the hole was to much. Too much of Dust and sand must have went in due to it. One thing that made me quite angry was the attitude of the TV channels. They wanted the workers to adjust and work so that they can have a good lens view of the ground situation. I wanted to fire them all at that instance.
I don't know what i could've done. But some kind of guilt is in my mind. The guilt that we do not take steps to make sure that these incidents don't happen again. The guilt that we did not force ourselves our administration to enforce laws... May the soul of Muthulakshmi rest in Peace. Sorry child...
May your soul Rest in Peace. Tears bounding in my eyes i write this, i felt you came so much close like we were family in a day. I felt i could come down there and do something to rescue you. My Mother was uncontrollable. She knows only till Muthulakshmi was rescued and cried. I switched off the TV fearing she might know the Child expired... The grief has hit me and millions in Tamilnadu. The frail body of the child carried to the ambulance is still fresh in me. It will haunt me forever, it will haunt the administrators forever...
